A Family of Baptist Congregations in the Midlands of South Carolina
Our One Priority: Starting and Strengthening Churches to Serve as Vital and Vibrant Missional Communities.
As the One Year Anniversary of the Pandemic Approaches . . .
. . . what have your learned about doing church? Around March 15th – the Ides of March – will be the one year anniversary of the response congregations were forced to make to the COVID-19 induced pandemic. One of the things that have been of great value to many congregational leaders is to learn how other congregations have responded to the pandemic. Now that we see signs of hope that the pandemic will ease and either disappear or be manageable as a new normal in our world, it is time to reflect on the past year and anticipate the next year. One of the best ways to do this is to share with our family of congregations your answers to three questions so that others might benefit from your observations.
Question One: What have you learned during the pandemic about how to do church differently that you will continue doing going forward? (Perhaps you stopped doing some things that you will not start back up. Perhaps you started doing new things that you will continue because of the value they are adding.)
Question Two: What challenges that arose during the pandemic are likely to continue negatively impacting your church going forward? (Are there issues of attendance, offerings, leadership, commitment, small group approaches, evangelism, and outreach, etc.?)
Question Three: What is the one (or more) question you have that you need help with from our congregations or thought leaders? (Are there opportunities or challenges where you do not have an answer and you need help from others to address these?)
Bonus Question: Where have you seen God at work in and through your congregation during the pandemic that calls for great rejoicing? (Please share about “open doors” and answered prayer.)
