How many hats does your pastor and other ministers in your church wear? Probably a lot more than you think. Many of the things they are called on to do were never taught to them in seminary or other ministry preparation learning experiences. They either learned these things along the way as part of their life experience, or you are not their first church and they may have learned these extra things in a previous church.
How many hats should your pastor and other ministers in your church wear? Probably fewer than they do wear. They often need for laypersons to step up and handle some of the hats they wear. Or, they need laypersons who tithe their full income – including the value of fringe benefits paid on their behalf by their employer—so there is enough money to hire people to wear some of the hats.
Along the way, and especially during this Minister Appreciation Month, offer to wear some of the hats which the ministers among you are wearing. Tell them how much you appreciate the many hats they are wearing.
