Timing is very important in the transformation of congregations. Yet, there are occasions when the timing of transition and change that may lead to transformation is too slow and will not work. While bringing as many people in the congregation along the transformation journey is the ideal goal, there are times the urgency and desperate nature of the situation calls for radical intervention.
At these times a nice, smooth process may be too little too late. The community context has changed radically. The attendance, leadership capacity, and finances seem to indicate a date by which the congregation will cease to exist.
