Because many congregations needing to transform believe the answer is to work harder at having the right programs and ministries, they smother any efforts at deep thinking that may result in working smarter in Christian ministry. They run and faint as they satisfy the goals of humankind.
Busy-ness often gets in the way of effectiveness. A packed schedule out of a works theology allows little time for spiritual discernment. Overworked leaders are responding to the dysfunctional philosophy that doing everything is better than doing a few things. They are wrong and in many cases, are going backwards rather than forward.
