CMBA Advisory Team members held their year-end meeting at North Star Center of Hope to conduct regular business and celebrate ministries. Also in attendance were several CMBA Huddle members that will conclude their work with the association effective December 31.
Team members expressed appreciation to Virtual Administrative Assistant Kyndra Bremer, whose resignation was announced during the meeting following five years of service, and to CMBA Strategists Robbie McAlister and David Waganer who had previously announced their retirements.
During his report to the team Waganer noted that “almost all of our churches have pastors and, in my time here, I don’t remember a time like this.” Waganer also expressed thanks for the “opportunity to serve the churches of the CMBA for the past six and a half years. My prayers will be for the future of CMBA to bring honor and glory to Jesus.”
Other CMBA reports included recent news and communications projects, pastoral encouragement events, and the Acts 1:8 update from McAlister, who praised CMBA’s Spain partnership and growth in ethnic partnerships during his tenure with the association. Carolina BCM Director Adam Venters shared additional salvation updates to a recent CMBA article and thanked CMBA churches for their partnership during the Serve Tour and for providing meals for BCM’s Tuesday night worship services. Venters encouraged interested churches to contact him directly to provide meals, financial support, and student missions sponsorship.
In his report to the Advisory Team, Associational Missions Strategist Jamie Rogers shared personal experiences serving as a chaplain during the SC State Fair and encouraged CMBA churches called to this ministry to renew participation in 2026. Rogers announced modified plans for a 2026 summer college student missions program through the Spain partnership, updates on CMBA church partnerships with local schools and district administrators, and discussions with missions pastors regarding an associational missions celebration. Rogers also expressed personal appreciation for Huddle Team members who are concluding their service, and said he will be conducting a search to fill the Virtual Assistant role.
Treasurer Doug Barnett told team members that CMBA has continued to “lower the amount of subsidy” applied to the association’s operational costs and that a decline in church giving has “widened the gap” to cover expenses.
Team members concluded the meeting with specific prayers for CMBA ministries and shared needs.
The next Advisory Team meeting will be held on January 20.
