What do too many congregations do when God calls them to a prophetic, innovative vision for Kingdom progress? They lie down beside it and go to sleep. They declare they cannot do what God wants them to do. They declare this is their church and they will do what they want to do, not realizing such an attitude makes them insubordinate regarding God’s leadership.
Yes, it is important for congregations to realize they cannot do everything, that God is also calling forward others. Yet whatever vision it is that we are called to fulfill deserves our most excellent effort, and with the obvious implication we are captured by it.
