The CMBA Advisory Team met January 21 at Temple Zion Baptist Church to share ministry updates and conduct regular business. Team members celebrated ways that God is at work throughout the CMBA Family of Churches and prayed for each of the churches by name before concluding the meeting.
Team members heard updates regarding current news and upcoming events, church assistance, and ways that their churches can participate in local and international missions. They learned about the association’s commitment to create deeper fellowship among bivocational pastors and about its focus on pastoral encouragement through a May 6 event with Jeff Iorg, author of “Leading Through Change.”
Several 2025 events of particular interest to all CMBA churches were also discussed, including the North American Mission Board’s Serve Tour held August 22-23 throughout the Midlands. Churches are encouraged to submit specific community project ideas that missional teams might assist them in completing, if selected. Learn more about the submission and volunteer process on NAMB’s Serve Tour page and look for updates for this event on the CMBA website.
The Advisory Team also heard details about the “Marriage That Lasts a Lifetime” conference held May 2-3, that is open to all church staff and members of the association. Registration information and other details may be found on the CMBA website. Team members were encouraged to access the 2025 Spain partnership mission trip projects, dates, and contacts on the CMBA website, and to share with their churches for prayer support.
In other news, CMBA WMU Director Ralphetta Davis told the Advisory Team that the association’s WMU is looking for a missions director and a children’s ministries leader. Interested volunteers may contact Davis at ralphettadavis@gmail.com. Davis invited members to order WMU’s “The Good News According to John” booklets and related Easter outreach materials for their churches, also available for purchase through Davis at the same email address.
In his report to the Advisory Team, Associational Missions Strategist Jamie Rogers shared about the CMBA Huddle’s work on the Pastor’s Collective. The pastoral pipeline concept involves a two-year training cohort supported by the association. Rogers expressed his desire for broader partnership among CMBA churches through a “proactive spirit of willingness,” that churches might ask how they can assist sister churches in need, and he encouraged team members and their churches to always be ready to meet community needs. In conclusion, Rogers invited team members to gather in small groups to pray for every CMBA church.

The next Advisory Team meeting will be held March 18.
