CMBA held its regular Advisory Team meeting at Temple Baptist on May 19 to celebrate the work of the association and conduct regular business of the CMBA Family of Churches. Of note, team members voted to affirm Marte Thomas as the new semi-virtual part time assistant for the association.

Thomas, a member of Village Church in Blythewood, said she is excited about the new role and that it is “incredible to watch the Lord at work. I can’t wait to see how He is going to use me in the next chapter.” Thomas officially began her new role on May 20.

In other news, Associational Missions Strategist Jamie Rogers shared several items of interest to churches. Following the 2025 North American Mission Board Serve Tour, a mobile grill was a shared gift to CMBA and the Lexington Association. Rogers reminds churches that the grill is available by request for community outreach and that the SC Baptist Convention has allotted money to be used by churches for this resource. He says CMBA “wants churches to use the grill to serve neighbors while they engage them with prayer and gospel conversations.”

CMBA pastors should expect contact in the next few months from Rogers, who has begun weekday visits to meet new pastors and to continue building relationships with those who have long-served in the association. Rogers invites pastors and lay leaders to “share ideas for ways we can serve our churches better,” such as the recent International Mission Board trip that introduced CMBA members to missionaries and the larger work of the agency.

In his address to the Advisory Team, Rogers gave updates from CMBA’s focus teams including the Pastoral Health Team’s upcoming Fireflies night for senior pastors and families and recent Community Missions and Church Health and Resources Team events.

During the business session, team members heard Treasurer Doug Barnett’s report and approved a grant request to North Trenholm for the church’s 2026 WinShape Summer Camp.

Team members also heard reports from Carolina BCM Director Adam Venters and CMBA WMU Director Ralphetta Davis from their ministry areas. Venters reminds churches of ongoing opportunities to engage with students and internationals through BCM, including during the summertime. Davis is compiling a list of current women’s ministry leaders for association and state convention records, and asks that the CMBA Family of Churches email those leader’s names and contacts directly to her at RalphettaDavis@gmail.com.

The next Advisory Team meeting will be held virtually on July 28.
