Insight 187: FaithSoaring Churches Focus on Inter-Tenure Efforts

Congregations seeking to transform give intentional focus to the interaction of people with various tenures within the life of the congregation. While age and generational difference can be observed by physical appearance, tenure cannot. Thus, it makes tenure a more difficult characteristic to address.

One congregation that used an open process for people to volunteer for some new initiatives discovered that 80 percent of the people who volunteered had related to the congregation for less than ten years. Yet the leaders of the effort had been members for more than ten years. Tenure is a subtle but crucial factor.
