ONE Night Midlands: An Evangelistic Student Event, Nov. 17 at Shandon

ONE Night Midlands, an open evangelistic student event for CMBA and other churches from throughout the area, will be held Sunday, Nov. 17, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Shandon Baptist Church. Middle and high school students are invited to participate and invite their friends to the free event that will include food, games, a silent disco, giveaways, and a clear gospel presentation. Sponsored by the South Carolina Baptist Convention, the evening student experience has been held throughout the state for several years.

According to SC Baptist Convention Next Gen Strategist Ricky Wilson, ONE Night events are collaborative worship and evangelistic experiences with one goal – to reach students who are far from Christ by introducing them to the Gospel. So far in 2024, Wilson says there have been “800 salvations through 11 ONE Night events. We have also trained more than 3,000 students on how to share their faith through ONE Night, which has contributed to even more salvations happening when these students go and share their faith at their schools.”

“This will be a great opportunity for students from all over the Midlands to come together and worship the King,” says Shandon Student Pastor Brandon Harrison, whose church is hosting the event. “Our only request is that students bring a friend.”

Over 100 students prayed to receive Christ during ONE Night Spartanburg.

ONE Night Midlands will have plenty of space for these students and their friends, with parking available in Shandon’s back lot. Groups will enter the building from the back lot entrance to join the activities held inside the church’s main lobby and sanctuary. There are a variety of ways adults can volunteer at ONE Night, and those interested may sign up through Shandon online.

Harrison welcomes CMBA’s partnership for the event and is “most excited about what could happen if we, as churches, came together in our city and went after the same thing. Because, at the end of the day, it’s not about Shandon or any other church – it’s about Jesus being made known. I believe God is doing something in our city, and this is a huge opportunity for churches to come together to reach these students.”

Six students responded to a call to ministry at ONE Night Anderson.

“I am so excited about the collaboration that has already taken place between churches across our association, and across the Midlands, with the desire to see students be able to experience life in Jesus,” says Associational Missions Strategist Jamie Rogers. “I’ve seen the impact of this event all over our state, and I’m praying God does the same thing here. This evening also represents more than just a ONE Night event, it will be about creating a movement of churches working together to reach middle and high school students with the hope of the gospel…together.”
