Congregations seeking to transform cannot hold new people at an arm’s length. They must wave them into the congregation. If they do not, new people feel it and choose to find another church. It takes a cultural change in many congregations to be inviting of new people.

Make sure your inviting is authentic concern for the spiritual development of people and connecting them to the congregational community. If you are inviting for what people can do for you, they will recognize this. You may not be happy with people who know you need them. They may have their own agendas.
