Marte Thomas began her work as the new CMBA semi-virtual part-time assistant on May 20. Marte is a Columbia native and is an active member of Village Church in Blythewood.
“I am so glad to have Marte on our team. She will be such a key part of what we do in serving our association of churches,” says Associational Missions Strategist Jamie Rogers. “Feel free to contact her and make her feel welcomed as she begins working to serve you all.”
For her part, Marte says she’s “super excited to join the CMBA staff. It is incredible to watch the Lord at work and I cannot wait to see how He is going to use me in this next chapter.”

In addition to providing support to Rogers and the overall work of the association, Marte’s experience as a former church staff member is an asset to her new work which includes coordinating the Annual Church Profile data collection from churches and maintaining CMBA’s calendar, databases, and meeting notes.

Marte holds degrees from Midlands Technical College and the University of South Carolina, where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism. She and her husband Kevin have three children, whom she homeschooled before returning to the workplace. In addition to serving on staff at Village Church, Marte worked at Ben Lippen School and was an office manager for a caregiving company. Marte says her passion for relationship-building and helping others to succeed is behind her “genuine desire to ensure people feel heard, valued, and cared for.”
