Those Who Diligently Labor

In spite of the fact that each of us is responsible for our own spiritual health, faithfulness to God, and the process of growing the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ, those who minister among us may still feel guilty when we stumble in life.

Our ministers feel responsible for us. They get it about being our under-shepherd. When we stumble they wonder what they could have done differently. When we do not respond to their service among us – even leave the church – they try not to, but they take it personally.

What do you think it means for our ministry leaders to “diligently labor” among us? The paraphrase of the Bible known as The Message puts it this way: “And now, friends, we ask you to honor those leaders who work so hard for you, who have been given the responsibility of urging and guiding you along in your obedience. Overwhelm them with appreciation and love!” (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13)

Sounds like a plan. Go overwhelm the ministers among you.
