April VLC Meeting Held at St. Andrews Baptist

CMBA

The CMBA Visionary Leadership Community (VLC) met Tuesday, April 19, at St. Andrews Baptist Church to conduct business and share ministry updates. Pastor Dee Vaughan welcomed the group along with member and CMBA Treasurer Brenda Sheets, who was previewed in CMBA’s VLC Member Spotlight last week.

Of note, members heard an update from the Executive Director Search Committee which reports they will conduct four interviews with finalists during the next month. The committee anticipates narrowing their search to one candidate following this stage of the process.

VLC members heard Team Huddle reports from its subgroups regarding ongoing work with CMBA churches. These targeted ministry area reports included CMBA’s partnership with South Carolina schools of higher education, relationship building through peer learning communities, an update on the Church Planting Fellowship and recent Our Family Stories.

Executive Director George Bullard reported on the Denominee Journey, following up on VLC’s adoption of the new CMBA mission statement developed through the process – “Unleashing Future Missional Stories of our Family of Congregations.” He also updated VLC on the status of projects and ministries he is assigning leadership to following his retirement, effective June 30, 2022.

On behalf of the Bylaws Revision Team, Craig Bailey reported the group is making meaningful progress. They anticipate having a draft ready in June so that a new Executive Director could review and present to VLC for approval prior to presenting to messengers to vote during the Annual Meeting in October.

Treasurer Brenda Sheets reported on CMBA’s continued financial stability during the meeting. VLC members heard that CMBA received an estate gift and voted to approve a motion to allocate this money to the Congregational Grant Fund.

VLC will reconvene May 17 at New Heights Church.
